It's painfully obvious from visiting reddit's photography subs that many people experience massive difficultly identifying entertaining or educational materials with respect to photography and videography. Let me help.
Camera Conspiracies - Casey runs a comedy channel on YouTube where he presents some insight, a ton of bullshit, unbelievably calming music, and a video-centric view of the YouTube creator driven market, with a begrudging alignment to Sony, an unrequited love for Fuji, a pure hatred for Panasonic, and a deep seated fear of Canon. I choose to believe he tailors his act for its effect. (Canadian #1) Kasey sleeps with a Sony X3000.
Gerald Undone - Gerald's videos provide in depth information about camera gear and if you enjoy watching a semi-hunky Canadian nerd geek out on camera gear; he provides substance worth falling asleep to. (Canadian #2) Gerald sleeps with a bottle of Windex and a hairbrush.
Kai Wong - Possibly not Canadian, though as a British person, we'll give him the benefit of the doubt. The always fashionable Kai delves into the new and the old while providing valuable information about photography techniques along the way. Kai's lude sense of humor may rub you the wrong way, but who isn't a little broken these days. Kai sleeps with, well himself mostly I would think.
That's hardly all the Canadians - more honorary Canadians below
Media Division - Just wow, you want to learn some things about Cinematography, maybe some vintage lenses? Check out their Canon FD video. I use these lenses for film photography, digital photography and video.
Gordon Laing - Gordon provides detailed and somewhat similarly scripted reviews of gear; he's especially in-depth on one of my cameras and it's associated stable of lenses, so I find that he provides some value to this community.
Nebula Photos - Nico Carver will walk you through astrophotography techniques in excruciating detail. And when you have followed his advice, you will be astounded at your results.
Here are some Canadian websites to help people along as well.
At least here in the US, we have a few retailers that provide go-to reliability for buying new and used gear. keh.com, bhphotovideo.com, adorama.com and mpb.com. Selling gear is another story. I've not been ripped off, but I have had mixed experiences.
If you need parts for that can be hard to find, this site, though it seems rather poorly put together (as is often the case for parts specialists - just check out this incredibly valuable fishing reel parts resource), has provided me parts I could not find otherwise, uscamera.com.
For those of you not following the humor, Canadian, where not actually Canadian, can be interpreted as excellent!
